Wagon Shed & Buggy Shed

German farm carts and wagons, agricultural and industrial machinery, and historic buggies and sulkies.

Self-guided tour stop 2B and 10

The Wagon Shed features a collection of German farm carts and wagons, highlighting their craftsmanship and the part they played in carrying goods, produce and equipment across farms and villages. Alongside the wagons are larger pieces of rural farm and industrial machinery used for ploughing, harvesting and processing crops. Look out for the small handmade German children’s wagon.

The Buggy Shed holds examples from the era of the buggy and sulky — the horse-drawn vehicles that were essential for travel, trade and daily life — together with a collection of tools from the carriage-building trade used by wheelwrights and blacksmiths to make and maintain wooden wheels, axles and iron fittings.

Nearby, the Small Engines Display holds historic single-cylinder engines that once drove belt-powered farm machines for jobs such as corn husking, shelling and cracking.
