An elderly man with a beard and glasses wearing a wide-brimmed hat, a beige shirt, and blue overalls standing inside a blacksmith's workshop, holding a pair of tongs. The workshop contains various blacksmithing tools on the walls and a forge with a bright fire.

Volunteering

Help Keep Laidley’s History Alive.

The Village is run entirely by volunteers of the Laidley District Historical Society Inc. Every admission taken, engine restored, garden bed weeded and school group guided around the grounds is their work.

You do not need to be a historian or a tradesperson. People of all ages and backgrounds help out, from a few hours a month to several days a week, and a friendly welcome is guaranteed.

Good to know

Time, experience and support

Your time

Volunteers give anything from a few hours a month to several days a week. The Village is open Monday to Friday, and special days such as Pioneer Day need extra hands.

Experience

No experience is needed. Practical, historical, office and people skills are all useful, and the application asks about the areas that interest you and the days you can help.

Support

Your application also covers membership of the Society. The volunteer coordinator contacts you for a chat, and you can phone or email the Village with any question before you apply.

Volunteer / Member Application

Personal and next-of-kin details, the days you can help, your interests and skills, and your signature.

About 10 minutes

If you would like a chat before applying, phone (07) 5465 2516 or email pioneervillage@y7mail.com. Prefer paper? Download the PDF form and bring it to the Village.
