Linn Half Track Truck & Timber Industry

The 1928 LINN logging truck — one of only three known in Australia — and tools of the early timber industry.

Self-guided tour stop 4

The 1928 LINN logging truck is the centrepiece of the Timber Industry Display. It is one of only three known to exist in Australia, and the only one displayed in a historical museum that is open to the public.

Together with the bobtail jinker, the truck was used to haul hoop pine and cedar logs from Mt Mistake to a sawmill at the foot of the mountain near Townson, about 30 kilometres south of Laidley.

The display also includes an extensive collection of tools used in the early timber industry, offering a glimpse of the craftsmanship and hard work of the district’s timber-getters.
