Privacy Policy
How the Laidley District Historical Society Inc. handles personal information collected through this website.
Who we are
This website is operated by the Laidley District Historical Society Inc. (“the Society”, “we”), which runs Laidley Pioneer Village & Museum at the corner of Drayton Street and Pioneer Street, Laidley QLD 4341. Questions about privacy can be sent to pioneervillage@y7mail.com, by phone on (07) 5465 2516, or by post to PO Box 136, Laidley QLD 4341.
What we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to send it to us through one of the website’s online forms:
Visit requests and group or school enquiries: your name and contact details, your organisation or school, visit dates and times, numbers in your party, catering and payment preferences, and any notes you add, such as accessibility or dietary needs.
Volunteer / member applications: your contact details, date of birth, next-of-kin contact, Blue Card details if you hold one, medical information you choose to give so we can keep you safe, the days you can help, your interests, and your signature.
Deed of Gift (donating an item to the collection): your name, address and contact details, a description and photographs of the items, and your signature.
Contact and research enquiries: your name, contact details and your message or research question.
Shop orders: your name, contact details, delivery or collection choice and the items ordered.
Each form asks you to confirm that you are an adult. The paper versions of the group booking form, the volunteer and member application and the Deed of Gift remain available to download and hand in at the Village.
How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, confirm a visit or booking and arrange catering, tours or coach parking.
To assess and record volunteer applications and Society membership.
To assess, record and acknowledge donations to the collection.
To prepare and fulfil shop orders.
We do not sell or trade personal information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you have asked to receive news from the Society.
Where it is kept and who can see it
Online submissions are saved to the Society’s booking and records system, where authorised volunteers can view them, add office-use details and update their status. Each submission receives a reference number, which you should quote if you contact us about it. Information on paper forms is held by the Society’s office. Your browser stores only your shopping-cart contents; no submitted personal information is kept in your browser. If a submission cannot be saved, the form tells you and keeps your entries so you can try again or contact us by phone or email.
Children’s Privacy & Educational Bookings
Our website is designed for a general audience, including parents, guardians and educators who are planning visits with their family or school excursions. We do not intentionally target children under the age of 16, nor do we knowingly collect, store or process personal information from children through this website. All online excursion bookings and contact enquiries must be completed by an adult, such as a parent, guardian or school representative.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately using the details above, and we will securely delete that data from our systems.
We will not publish photos of school excursions on our website or Facebook page unless the school has confirmed that all students have signed media waivers. If consent is given to us, we will avoid displaying identifying details like school uniforms or student name tags online.
Shop and payments
The online shop currently runs as a demonstration: orders are recorded for the Society to arrange collection or delivery, and no payment is taken on this website. If online payment is switched on in future, card details will be entered on the payment provider’s own secure pages and will not be stored by the Society. We will update this policy when that happens.
Third-party services
Google Fonts and Google Maps: pages load typefaces from Google, and the Visit Us page embeds a Google map. Google may collect standard technical information, such as your IP address, under Google’s privacy policy.
Facebook: the homepage shows recent posts from the Village’s Facebook page using Facebook’s page plugin, which loads content from Facebook and is subject to Meta’s privacy policy and cookies. If you would rather not load it, use the “Visit our Facebook page” link instead.
Links: links to other websites, including research resources, are subject to those websites’ own policies.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not set tracking cookies of its own and does not currently use analytics. Third-party content such as the Facebook plugin may set its own cookies, as described above.
Access, correction and concerns
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you from your website submissions, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, by contacting the Village using the details above. If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please tell us and we will look into it and respond to you.
Changes to this policy
The Society may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page.
