About Us

Who we are, how Laidley Pioneer Village came to be, and the town we call home.

The Laidley District Historical Society Inc. is a non-profit organisation dedicated to collecting, preserving, researching, exhibiting and interpreting objects that best illustrate past human habitation and the settlement and development of the Laidley district, for current and future generations to enjoy.

Queensland’s first pioneer village, officially established in 1972 and run entirely by volunteers.

How one man’s vision, a $40 block of land and a community of volunteers built the Village.

From the teamsters’ camp at Narda Lagoon to the railway town of today.
