These holding cells were once part of the Laidley Police Station complex. They survived the fire that destroyed the police station on 27 June 1949.

Built with basic, no-frills construction, the cells were designed to detain prisoners temporarily before they were transferred to larger facilities or brought before the court. They are a stark reminder of the harsh realities of law enforcement in rural Queensland in the early 20th century.
