Projects your support makes possible

The Village’s buildings, machinery and vehicles are kept in working order by volunteers. Restorations and improvements are funded by admissions, donations and grants, and the Society welcomes help with materials, skills and funds.

Confirmed current projects are listed here as they are approved by the committee.

Volunteers improved the entrance to the Rural Life (Good Old Days) building and addressed future drainage problems at the same time, making the building more accessible for visitors with limited mobility.

Financial support

Monetary donations

Other way to help

Objects, photographs and records

Donate an item to the collection

The Society collects items that help tell the story of Laidley and the surrounding districts.

What we accept

  • Items generally more than 50 years old.
  • Items with a connection to Laidley and the surrounding districts.
  • Photographs, documents, family histories, household objects, clothing, farming equipment and machinery.

How to offer an item

  1. Contact the Village first, before bringing an item in: phone (07) 5465 2516 or email pioneervillage@y7mail.com.
  2. Send a photograph and the known history of the item — its ownership, where it came from, when it was used and its connection to the district.
  3. Items are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If transporting a large or heavy item is difficult, a volunteer may be able to assess it on site, by arrangement.
  4. Complete the Deed of Gift form online. It records your gift, the items, any copyright arrangements and your agreement, and gives you a downloadable copy. A Society representative countersigns when the items are received, and the Management Committee then decides whether the gift is accepted.
