Self-guided tour stop 11A

The Rural Life Display — the ‘Good Old Days’ building — presents a wide collection of items from the daily lives of rural families. A kitchenware section shows vintage cookware, utensils and appliances. Opposite, the laundry area shows the labour-intensive process of washing clothes before modern conveniences, with hand-operated washboards, wringers, irons and soap-making tools.

Together, the displays illustrate the ingenuity and resilience of early settlers, who relied on simple but effective tools to manage their household chores.

In 2026 volunteers improved the entrance to the building to address drainage and make it more accessible for visitors with limited mobility.
